During winter months, residents are reminded to keep fire hydrants clear of snow and ice. During a storm or plowing, hydrants may become snow bound and inaccessible to the Franklin Square Water District or Fire Department in an emergency when it becomes imperative to locate the fire hydrant quickly.

Additionally, please do not pile debris in the vicinity of a fire hydrant and set back plantings and shrubs a significant distance when landscaping in the surrounding area.

It has come to our attention that there has been impersonations of utility workers, especially the water company. We know this is alarming to you as our customer and it is alarming to us as well. If you ever have any concern of whether or not an employee works for our company ask for identification before you let them in your house.

Please know that when an employee from the Franklin Square Water District responds to a service call they will always arrive in a district vehicle with our logo on it and will be wearing district issued uniforms. If you still do not feel comfortable call the Franklin Square Water District and we will confirm if we have sent a service man to your house and what his name is.

We are taking this matter very seriously. Our customers safety is always a number one concern of ours.
